Matthew Rudd, conductor of Ely ConsortMatthew Rudd read music at Oxford University, where he sang in the Oxford Bach Choir under Christopher Robinson, and for chapel services with the choirs of Exeter College and The Queen’s College. He moved to Cambridge in 1997 to teach music at The Perse School for Girls, and joined the chamber choir Cambridge Chorale, with whom he toured Italy and Latvia, and sang on a number of recordings.

Since becoming Director of Music at the Perse School for Girls in 2003, he has conducted the choir and orchestra in venues such as West Road Concert Hall, Ely Cathedral, and the chapels of Clare College, Downing College and Gonville and Caius College. He has also taken the choir on two tours to Belgium, performing in Bruges, Ghent and Antwerp.

Matthew has been Musical Director of Ely Consort since 2002; he has conducted the choir in a wide variety of sacred and secular repertoire, from the Renaissance to the present day.
